Housing First
H.O.M.E. Center provides outreach, mitigation, and emergency response in order to reduce homelessness to functional zero in Hays County
What does that mean?
Homeless: we strive to assist unhoused individuals with obtaining housing and essential services
Outreach: we strive to educate and build community connections to raise awareness about the challenges unhoused familes face.
Mitigation: we strive to coordinate area resources, which ensures accessibility
Emergency: we rapidly respond in times of crisis with relief and homelessness prevention efforts. to services and reduces the barriers faced by those who are unhoused.
H.O.M.E. Center has a “housing first” approach to ending homelessness. Housing First is a model that prioritizes finding permanent housing in order to break the cycle of homelessness.
As a Housing First Project, H.O.M.E. Center ensures individuals and families receive assistance with obtaining housing first. Housing is central to ensuring households are stable and can be successful when seeking employment opportunities, medical assistance, mental health services, drug/alcohol dependency resources and other supportive services that will ensure households remain in stable permanent housing.
